You have heard the term “PR”. The first thing that comes to mind is Public Relations. Well in this post I am going to talk about a different kind of PR. Though public relations are a big part of it.
So, let’s talk about working smart and leveraging your marketing efforts in a way that will keep you in front of your past clients and perspective clients. You need to constantly be promoting your opportunity, products or services to prospective clients and you need to retain those relationships that have already done business with you. Promotion and Retention (PR) is the key to a successful business.
Recently, I was at a local farmers market enjoying taking a stroll through all the different local merchants. I came across a woman who had a display of amazing custom made jewelry. I engaged in a conversation with her and discovered that she has been doing this for over 10 years. She said that she loves to create the jewelry but the setting up and breaking down of her booth was getting real old. I asked her if she had ever thought about selling some of her things on-line, like ebay. The thought had never really occurred to her. I then asked her if she had any idea about how many people have purchased her jewelry over the years. Her response…. Many, Many thousands. “Really I said, do you stay in touch with them I asked?” she had this confused look on her face. I then asked, do you have a way of reaching your past clients informing them of your latest creations? Her response….
No, I never really thought about that. I couldn’t help myself and went into business coach mode. I spent the next 15 minutes teaching her the value of building a list of names. The real possibility is if she had started building a list of names with e-mails, she may have retired herself from the farmer’s markets years ago.
I don’t care what business you are in, START NOW building your e-mail list. This is a HUGE asset that will be worth a lot of potential future business.
Side note… This is also a valuable asset should you ever wish to sell your business. Business Brokers will tell you that this adds serious value to any business.
Let’s fast forward now and assume that you have built up your assets, AKA e-mails. The next thing you need to do is look for a great service provider that can help you organize those contacts and communicate with them. AUTO E-MAIL RESPONDERS have been a wonderful technology that any business can use for promotion and retention. This technology can put your e-mail communication on auto-pilot and save a tremendous amount of time and money. The Three services that we recommend are:
1. Get response
2. AWeber
3. Talk Fusions… Stand Out from the crowd.
It’s VIDEO e-mail. They say it’s always nice to put a face with the name. This is a great way to not only stay in front of your clients as a retention tool or product or service promotion tool, but it helps you build your brand. You would probably be the only person that is sending them video e-mails.
